USS Alabama

After visiting the National Museum for Naval Aviation we headed to Mobile for a camp out on the USS Alabama. Below are several photos of the trip. We really had a great time seeing an impressive piece of history. I believe the scouts and leaders gained a greater respect for Naval warfare.
Bringing our gear aboard.

Nifty sleeping arrangements.  5 level bunks! Tight Quarters.

Chris and the USS Drum.

Matt and the anti aircraft cannon.

Sad to see the old gun breech rusting.  These guns were HUGE!

Recently Troop 23 was able to make an enjoyable trip to the National Museum for Naval Aviation in Pensacola, Florida.  Below are many of the photos we took.  Here is the website: http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/

Looking at the unlit lighthouse.  Worthy of a google search to see how they work.

Taking a breath halfway up the tower.

Almost down the tower! If this guy looks tired you should have seen the scoutmaster!  His knees were screaming!
